Caldoria is a resort town for people of Aitaegen to go to and relax. Caldoria was established by the monarchy of Tumult. King Jackirit wanted a place to get away to from time to time. He employed the best Dwarven engineers and Gnome designers to develop a place that would draw in all the people. The engineers developed luxury resort inns for people to stay in, the most popular being the Caldoria Ocean Side Hotel. The gnome designers outfitted the buildings with designs that were lavish and artistic. Halflings and Humans were employed to be entertainers in the hotels and taverns.
The size of the city and lavishness of the buildings are beyond compare to all of the cities. Royal Guards are stationed all throughout the city to protect it from any wayward monster or opportunistic thieves. The biggest attraction is an ocean side amusement park that has carnival games and wonderous rides for all adults and children. This place is called Caldorian Points and also contains one of the largest amphitheatres. Bards from all the cities of Aitaegen hope to come play the Caldorian Amphitheatre.
One of the most popular entertainment groups performs in Caldoria. People from as far as hopesfall make their way to the city to see The Finger, The Jab and The Stake. Bards of the lands practice their whole life just to be asked for one accompaniment in their plays with their musical instrument of choice. TF, TJ and TS perform plays, ad-lib shows and musical numbers which brings in huge crowds and major profits for the Amphitheatre .
The road to Caldoria requires most travelers to pass through Tumult or Andoria. This makes getting to the city very difficult for anyone of ill repute. Caldoria sits right on the ocean and has very long and entertaining piers in which individual entertainers perform for Jacks. People enjoy fishing off the piers and spending the day in the fresh crisp air.
Many sailors make their way to Caldoria to join the fleets of ships that sail far out into the ocean to catch shrimp. The shrimp trade fuels Caldoria's economy and job market. The local cuisine also relies on the massive hauls of shrimp coming into the ports on the daily basis. Caldoria is a city friendly to all races and job seekers.
Chapter 2
The skies filled with evil black clouds and rolled over Caldoria setting a quiet tone to the city. The royal guards went into a defensive mode yet there was a problem. Caldoria never really built its defenses in the thought that someone would want to raid the city. The undead that surged from Tumult was overwhelming. Waves of the dead made their way down the Inordianate mountain pass towards Caldoria. Caravans of people coming back from a happy day in the city were ravaged on the roadside.
The surge of undead made their way in a matter of hours to Caldoria with hardly a warning. The royal guards were many but not enough to fend off one of the strongest parts of the surge. The Ghouls, Ghosts, Zombies and Skeletons from the netherworld killed and feasted on the corpses of the royal guards and civilians of the city. Many people fled to the shrimping boats to get off the shore and away from the surge.
Days of destruction occurred in Caldoria after the initial surge. The city of Caldoria was a massively sized city before the undead army finished it off. The Amphitheatre, amusement park, ocean side inns, restaurants and piers were destroyed and burned. People of all races were hung on pikes and from their necks in a display of victory for the undead. The evil occupancy lasted for almost a year in the town of Caldoria. Many people were taken as slaves and as feast for the undead occupancy.
A small group of men whom hated the dead and all of evil status made their way to Caldoria one day. This group of men whom have never really been named destroyed an entire army of occupying undead. Without praise or recognition they free thousands of captive in the city and eradicated every last undead in the area. These men of no recognition turned the city over to the people the freed and promised to send back help and protection. One of the leaders of the group was described as a half-ogre cleric with bright white armor.
A year of rebuilding has occurred in Caldoria. The remaining people have tried to revive the once popular hotspot and are becoming successful. They have rebuilt the Amphitheatre, most of the pier and parts of the amusement park. The shrimp business has slowly come back but there is still a lot of repair to be done. Caldoria was once housing over 75,000 people and now is just a town occupied by a fraction of that.
People still flock to Caldoria to take in the shows of The Finger, The Jab and The Stake who survived the onslaught. A project has begun to fortify the city with a surrounding wall and watch towers so an incident like the surge won't ever penetrate the town ever again. Caldoria has and still relies on the protection from Tumult and Andoria. Many soldiers are stationed in Caldoria from the Tumult and Andorian armies. The Caldorian government trades shrimp and free entrance to Caldorian Point to members of the Andorian and Tumult armies in trade for their services. The Caldorian Government is ran by a counsel of 10 people.
